RE:
Feedback on Redistricting
We are at the data collection phase
of the redistricting process. This phase of the process is designed to solicit your initial reaction to
the redistricting proposal and collect questions you may have regarding the proposal. We are collecting
your comments and questions before we embark upon public forums regarding the proposal.
Public forums will be held throughout the district during the latter part of October and
early November.
Proposal:
To make boundary adjustments to a new configuration for the elementary and middle schools in the Manchester School
District which will result in the following: K-4, 5/6, and 7/8 schools throughout the District
Rationale for proposal:
To determine if redistricting/reconfiguration will allow for:
1. The reduction
of class size at the elementary school level (K—4) to focus on early literacy intervention;
2. Full
day Kindergarten in all elementary schools;
3. A greater concentration of instructional strategies
that is age and developmentally appropriate;
4. The maximum utilization of space in all schools
to meet student needs;
5.
The determination academic and space needs for the future.
The proposal would realign the following
schools to meet the configuration stated above:
