1.     Call To Order  - Kevin Phelan 7:00 

 2.     Minutes from Previous Meeting –  Approved by Jess  Hawkom; 2nd Jen Lenox – Unanimous

 3.     Reports :  

              -      President Report –  Kevin Phelan reported a lot of items / events  will be happening over the next few months the year has been successful so far… 

            -      Correspondance –   Wendy did not have anything to report;  Jamie  Burke  requested thank you letters be sent to Market Basket and Walmart in Hooksett for their support in our holiday basket efforts – Wendy Hudson has sent the letters.

          -      Principal’s Report –  Mrs. Mac reports that Basketball Hoop-A-Thon is underway to raise money for the teams… BOTH TEAMS UNDEFEATED ; - Running Records Completed -  Performance pathways preliminary reporting indicates that school wide, 75% of the kids are proficient and above reading level.  The target for the next 6-8 weeks is to get the students that are slightly below proficient (about 10%) up to the proficient level.-NECAP scores out at the end of January-Enrichment night will be BALL ROOM DANCING again (end of March).. very well received last year.  A boost in self confidence and manners has been noticed this year.  The feeling is that the poise and manners taught at this event has stuck and we are seeing the benefit of the program.

 

          -      Treasurers Report  Tammy reports that her Report was reviewed and the budget amendments were approved unanimously ( By Jess Hawkom; 2nd by Michelle Carrier- Unanimous)  Budget Amendments are:  50/50 split of Yankee Candle Fund Raiser with mrs Mac Getting ½ (approx $2K) 

Feb Dance increased $100 to $500, Teacher Appreciation Increased $100 to $500 & John Alyward incr $250 to %750.   Also changed on the budget was the addition of a $750 Revenue and Expense Line item for the 5th Grade year book…  

            -      Campbell’s LFE – Dee K absent reported that the first round of checks should be hitting soon from the first submission…

         -      Hannford $ - Michelle Carrier reported we received $422.00 in Hannaford $...  we will be checking the website to see where Weston Landed.

 

 4.     OLD BUSINESS

 

          Weston PTO Website  - Jamie Reported that we have purchased(2 year agreement) the website for the Weston PTO …  www.westonpto.com   

Joe briggs has offered to house the site on his server.  Amy Merrow will be heading this committee and a 1/12/10 meeting is planned.  -the goal is to give the parents and community a place to go to get up to date information on all PTO activities and other activities.

 

-      Holiday Basket Wrap up

-we went over budget slightly but we were able to get out 26 Thanksgiving baskets and 20 Christmas Baskets which included 4 board games for each family.  Things to note are: Market Basket in Londonderry provided packaging and delivery of the baskets.   Wal-Mart in Hooksett gave us a 10% discount on the games; Stop and Shop and Hannaford donated recycle grocery bags that we used as the baskets. Michelle Carriers boss donated the Turkeys and the Hams for both programs.  (We spent roughly $40 per family.)

 

-BJ’s Membership

Kevin reported that the Drive went well… we will look at doing it at another time of the year as it was kind of hectic during the holidays to run this event.

 

 5.     NEW BUSINESS

       -      Tiger Progam has been scheduled for Jan 20th.  Well Received last year.

          -      Sweet Heart Dance  -  our DJ retired  …  names of potential replacements will be forwarded to Jess to add to her list of calls.    We will be asking $1 per student and not charging for the baked goods.  Also Carnations will be sold.Dates look to be 2/5 or 2/12 

        -      Molly Sullivan Sliney Motivational Speaker Program-This program will be looked into for a possible Fall 2010.

      -      Winter Coat Drive -  Amy Merrow to head this committee 

      -    Book Fair - Besty Corradino wanted to mention that we will indeed be having a 2nd bookfair which will be the 1st Wednesday in June to give the kids a chance at getting some books in preparation for summer reading…

Ron Ludwig Alderman Ward 2– Fielded questions and comments from the group. Bottom line is that HE wants a clear understanding of what our school faces for challenges.   We can add his e-mail to minute recipients.   Thank you Ron for taking the time to speak with some of our representatives of Weston.
